      Forsgate Country Club's  Frank Esposito, Jr,. a member of its Teaching Professional staff, who qualified to play in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship that is being contested this week at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY. Esposito, 56, was one of just 35 professionals who earned a spot in the prestigious tournament.

         “This is a significant achievement for Frank as hundreds of the world’s best senior golfers and former PGA TOUR players battled to earn a berth in the Senior PGA Championship,” said Chris Schiavone, Forsgate’s Managing Partner.  “Everyone at the club wishes Frank well as he competes against a strong field.  We are proud to support such an accomplished member of our staff. ”

Practice round tickets are $35 for adults, all kids free. Tickets can be purchased through the tournament website.           For the first time in several years, Tiger Woods has officially qualified for THE NORTHERN TRUST, thanks to his win at the Masters. Joanna Coe earned one of the biggest victories of her golf career recently when she won the coveted PGA Women's Stroke Play Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St Lucie, Florida

Coe, who grew up in Mays Landing and is a 2007 Oakcrest High School graduate and now is a teaching professional at the Baltimore Country Club.

Coe shot a 76-64-74—214 to gain a one-stroke victory over Brittany Kelly, of Indianapolis.

The 29-year-old received $1,800 for the win and a spot in this year’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, one of the LPGA’s five majors, at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, on June 18-23, an event she also played in last year.

Coe put herself in contention to win after the second round, when she shot an 8-under 64 on the PGA Golf Club’s Par-72 Ryder Course. It was both a tournament record and personal best.

She followed that Tuesday with a 2-under 74 on the club’s Wannamaker Course, and that was good enough to hold off Kelly.

New Jersey’s rich golf history will be celebrated in grand fashion on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, when nine of the state’s most decorated players and impactful contributors will be inducted into the New Jersey State Golf Association Hall of Fame. The second annual Hall of Fame ceremony and reception will take place at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, home of the NJSGA’s headquarters.

The Class of 2019 boasts some of the Garden State’s most prominent players as well as several contributors who have made a unique and lasting impact on the game of golf. This year’s nine inductees will be Leo Fraser, Bobby Jacobson, Babe Lichardus, Joe McBride, Dorothy Porter, Jeff Thomas, Dennis Walters, Craig Wood and Billy Ziobro. “The nine individuals elected to the NJSGA Hall of Fame this year, like those in our inaugural class, have had a tremendous impact on the game of golf in New Jersey. Ron Jaworski Golf and US Sports Camps, Inc., operators of Nike Junior Golf Camps, have announced plans to offer a series of week-long, junior half day camps this summer at three Jaworski Golf properties. US Sports will support the camp operations via their marketing, customer service and other back-end services. Jaworski Golf will oversee staffing of the junior golf camps in South New Jersey, keeping the coaching style and philosophy of their respective instructors, while integrating the Nike Camp framework. Both parties hope to create more interest in the sport and provide young golfers with top-notch instruction.

This week, Forsgate Country Club's Frank Esposito, a member of its Teaching Professional staff, is playing in final field of the qualifying tournament for a chance to play on the PGA TOUR Champions Tour in 2019.  Esposito  successfully advanced to the Final Stage, which is being held this week at the TPC Tampa Bay, when he finished 8th among 82 golfers at the Florida qualifier in Lakeland.  Esposito is one of only 78 competitors to reach the Final Stage. After the first round, Esposito is currently in 5th place.

Suzy Whaley joined the PGA of America in search of more competitive playing opportunities, a modest ambition that 17 years later has morphed into her becoming the first female president of the 102-year-old association.

Whaley, who for the last two years has served as its vice president, has formally be elected to a two-year term at the PGA’s annual meeting.

“Not enough adjectives,” a past president, Derek Sprague, said shortly after her election. “Historic doesn’t do it justice. So I’ll use a new adjective we learned this week. Amazable.”

Whaley, 51, is the 41st president of the PGA. Jim Richardson, the senior vice president business development for Troon, was elected vice president, while John Lindert, the director of golf/chief operating officer at The Country Club of Lansing in Lansing, Mich., was elected secretary.
